Kamal was born in 1970. He obtained a Bachelor of Science and Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Bahrain in 1994 and holds a Masters Degree in International Project Management from Leeds University.
Kamal Ahmed began his career as a Project Engineer at Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) (1994 - 2004) as Planning Superintendent.
Kamal was appointed to this role in January 2007 after two years as Director of Projects at the EDB where he led the Projects Department in facilitating the implementation of the Kingdom’s reform initiatives.
He first joined the EDB in 2004 as Industrial Program Manager, working with key ministries in formulating the national industrial policy, strategies and business development plans.
A member of several boards including Bahrain Development Bank, the Bahrain Airport Company and the Quality Assurance Authority for Education and Training.
Represented the EDB at numerous global events and media engagements frequently speaking about Bahrain’s economy in the context of wider Gulf issues. Married with four children.
